PUBLIC NOTICE

Effective October 1, 2009

The Stark Metropolitan Housing Authority (SMHA) will close their Section 8 
Program waiting list effective OCTOBER 1, 2009. SMHA will NOT accept any new 
applications for the Section 8 Program after this date. There are currently 
over 2000 families on the waiting list and the wait to receive Section 8 
assistance is much longer than the recommended wait time. There is no scheduled 
date to re-open the waiting list at this time. When SMHA is prepared to re-open 
the waiting list for Section 8, an announcement will be posted on our website and 
in the local newspaper. 

SMHA will continue to accept applications for the Public Housing Program.
